Golden Globes 2014 Red Carpet

Last night the award season continued as celebs graced the red carpet in anticipation of the Golden Globe awards that followed. This year marks the 71st year of the golden globe awards and they were held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Two big trends this year were Metallic and Embellished with actresses like Kate Beckinsale, Naomi Watts and Mila Kunis stepping out with different variations of these trends.

Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
Kate Beckinsale wore a stunning Zuhair Murad embellished gown with matching train. It was form fitting and emphasized her curves and the way the light hits off it adds a touch of glam we are so used to seeing from the Golden Globes red carpet.

Naomi Watts in Tom Ford
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
Naomi Watts said she wanted to go understated in order to keep all the attention on hubby Ray Donovan. However this did not go to plan because of this is understated then I would sure like to see the show stopper. She kept everything else about her look so simple to highlight the simple beauty of this Tom Ford dress. For me this is one of the best looks of the night.

Mila Kunis in Gucci Premiere
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
Mila Kunis wore a pale grey Gucci Premiere silk Chiffon halter neck dress. This had metallic floral embroidery around the neck and sequins at the waist. Again it is really easy to over do this type of dress but she pulls it off perfectly. Her make up, hair and accessories are kept so simple as to not distract from the gown.

Caitlin FitzGerald in Emilia Wickstead
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
I love this Emilia Wickstead gown on Caitlin FitzGerald, it is perfect for this kind of occasion. It is very different from others on the night but this adds a touch of Audrey Hepburn class to the proceedings. Emilia Wickstead has taken a classical look and applied it to modern culture and fashion.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar De La Renta
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
Michelle Dockery wore an embellished Oscar De La Renta gown. This seems like a very apt choice for the Downton Abbey star. It is classical and jeweled to perfection. I think I am in love!

Kaley Cuoco in Rani Zakhem
71st Golden Globe Awards 2014
For me Kaley Cuoco has done it again. She is wearing a Rani Zakhem gown and she looks fab, even though many would disagree with me. I love the pattern and how vintage the material looks. Big thumbs up from me!

They are my top 6 looks from this years Golden Globe Awards. Three have a modern touch to them and three have a classical feel to them. There were so many good looks this year on the red carpet and it was hard to chose only six of them.

Let me know what you think of these gowns :)

Did you watch the red carpet? Do you have your own top dresses of the night?
